The Himalayas are approaching a tipping point as glaciers melt faster than a decade ago, threatening water security as ​the region approaches “peak water” by mid-century, according to a study ‌released this month. The findings come after the collapse of a Himalayan glacier in late August along the Nepal-Tibet border, which caused cascading landslides and flash floods in the ​valleys below. At least 1,300 people have been confirmed dead ​and more than 5,300 are missing across Nepal and China’s ⁠Tibet region. アラカン軍 launches second recruitment drive in ラカイン State as counteroffensive intensifies

The アラカン軍 (AA) began compiling lists of eligible males, aged 18-45, and females, aged 18-35, to be recruited in Arakan State’s Thandwe Township on Sunday. Both males and females are subject to at least two years of mandatory service if living in territory seized by the AA since it launched its offensive in November 2023 . A Thandwe resident told DVB on the condition of anonymity that the AA has been distributing brochures to announce the recruitment drive. This is the second round of forced recruitment by the AA since March 2025. Thandwe, located 160 miles (260 km) south of the Arakan State capital Sittwe, was seized by the AA in 2024. ミャンマー nationals and pro-democracy supporters in Japan and South Korea held a rally on Sunday in support of Ambassador チョー・モー・トゥン’s campaign to remain ミャンマー’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations– one day after the regime in ネピドー announced that it was seeking an international warrant for his arrest . “The regime is now making every effort to seize ミャンマー’s seat at the U.N..
